Thanks to Clinton Ronan, Sue and Miller deMar, Greg Berlucchi, Bill McCusker , Wayne Olsson, Reuben & Michelle Rettke and of course Russell for working so hard at today’s Bus Build.
The day started off a little chilly but warmed right up and turned out to be really nice! Everyone had a hand in prepping and sanding the bumpers, wheels, front belly pan and the surround at the rear of the engine bay. These are areas that are really hard to do well because of all the curved areas, especially the wheels. But Clinton, Reuben and Michelle did an amazing job of cleaning and sanding the wheels and getting them ready for paint. Good Job Guys!
Miller and Sue and Bill spent hours on the bumpers and the front belly pan and also got those ready for final prep and paint. I didn’t know what great paint prep work Sue does. Is there anything she Can’t do?
Greg brought lemons and also did a bunch of sanding on the engine bay rear surround part. But he surprised me by showing us an app on his phone that will give you an accurate angle when held against any surface! We were involved in trying to figure out how the Z bed works so we could figure out how to install it. Needed to find the angle of the bulkhead between the gas tank cavity and the bus interior. Of course I left my inclinometer at home and was at a loss until he said, “just use your phone”! And then showed us an app that I had no idea existed called the “bubble level”. Thanks Greg.
Wayne spent hours working more of his magic on all the exterior surfaces of the bus prepping and sanding and getting it ready for paint. We’ll be spending a lot more time for a few days later in the week trying to get the paint finished. Or at least the prep work all done…. This is always a really big job.
So a lot got done! And Russell and Clinton even prepared a Salad and Pizza….. thanks Clinton, the food was great. So a good time was had by all. I especially enjoyed the brownies that Reuben made for us. Even managed to squirrel a few extras away for the drive home!
Greg Pickrel dropped by after the SHP bed build. He helped Russell and me try to figure out how to get the Z bed in its final location and where and how to locate the supports, legs, braces and all the stuff needed to not just install it, but to install it so it actually works and clears everything. Especially clears the cabinets Greg and Russell are building. Not easy! At least another day’s work before it’s ready to be successfully completed.
So thanks again to everyone for showing up and getting So Much Done. Your hard work and dedication is what makes this club so great.
