Raffle Bus 34 Work Party - Saturday, Mar. 15, 2025

What a great start to this year’s “Raffle Bus Work Party” season.

11 Bus Club members showed up and worked like crazy all morning long. I couldn’t keep up with everything but here’s my best attempt at some sort of summary.

Good to see Clinton. (He’s an honorary member of the club, I think) and always gives it his best. He worked on the installation of the windows and helped David and Russell with the dash. Thanks, Clinton.

Seems like everyone worked with him on the windows. Thanks to Mike, David P, David C, Laura, Bill, Miller, Sue deMar, Sue Rice, and Reuben.

Reuben and David P. Also spent hours on the headlights. The aftermarket chrome rings take a LOT of tweaking to fit well. But they got it done.

Special thanks to Sue and Sue Rice, Laura, David P for the extra effort involved in getting the jalousie windows cleaned, straightened and installed. We would also like to thank Marie Ramirez (Sue Rice's neighbor). She helped Sue R. scrub the oxidation off one of the jalousie windows.

Besides working on the windows, Mike spent hours under the bus working on the final adjustments to the shifter, and clutch cable. A dirty, messy, uncomfortable job. Thanks Mike.

David Cissna worked his magic on the front door wing vent windows again this year. He is now officially the go to guy for anything “bus front doors”. Including latches, windows, regulators, vent wing windows and trim. He needs to be on YouTube showcasing his expertise. Great job!

Besides working on the windows, Miller was also able to figure out how to get the front grill, its screen and the very difficult chrome trim ring installed…. The chrome trim ring is important on this bus because of the deluxe trim. And it looks great.

Russell, David, and Clinton worked on the removal, cleaning, painting and reinstallation of the dash and switches. Wow! It looks sooooo much better!

Sue DeMar also was able to get the wood ceiling panels cleaned of all the left over dust and make them look perfect. It’s a big area to clean and it took quite a while.

SpecialThank You” to Russell and Greg for their work on the wooden ceiling panels, door panels and side panels. They didn’t spend hours or days on this, they spent WEEKS! The fitment issues are demanding and really tough to resolve. And their work shows the attention to detail required to make everything look exactly right. They did a great job… And we owe them a big Thank You from each one of us.

Russell seemed to be everywhere as usual. He kept everyone on task and keeps finding more stuff that needs attention when you think you’re done for a while.

It was great to see Bill. Besides helping with the windows and side lights, he stayed into the afternoon and got the sliding door working nicely. I don’t know how he does it, but he knows how to tweak everything just so and make the darn thing work! Thanks, Bill.

And Greg also continues with his important Inspector General duties…..

Special thanks to Greta who once again came up with a wonderful lunch for everyone. Michelle also deserves a big thank you for being there and helping Greta. Thank you Michelle.

This being posted a day later than usual, but Russell and I did some additional work on the Rocky and Roll bed on Sunday. That thing is a bear, but we had to do a “final” test fit and get everything lined up and its mounting position fixed in its final resting place so we could drill all the attachment holes needed in just the right places. Took all morning. Of course we will be removing it next so the upholstery can be done.

I know I missed someone or left out what you were working on. I apologize. But feel free to add to this thread whatever you did that was overlooked by me. Sorry.

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE FOR A GREAT JOB WELL DONE!
